Course Description
The first part of this Becoming a Teaching Assistant online course begins by defining the TA’s role. It then sets out the core duties and responsibilities of the role, before describing the three different TA levels and the specific duties of each.
The course then explores the role of the TA in supporting learning activities, covering lesson planning and preparation, literacy and numeracy support, differentiation and inclusion, interventions and booster sessions, and the importance of encouraging independent learning.
Continuing the topic of classroom support, the course looks specifically at supporting pupils with additional learning needs.
It dives deeper into the role of the TA in supporting children with ALN and SEND, exploring the main differences between working in a special school and a mainstream setting.
